 Crago
Quarter Horses was started when the late Vince Crago, Bruce,
Ralph, and Chuck’s father, purchased a great sire, Beckwith
Dun, in 1976, from his father-in-law, Ralph Beckwith, Margaret Crago’s
father. Vince and Margaret and the boys were raising horses for their
own use, and soon had more than they could ride, so they decided
to have a production sale, thus was the start of our horse sale history.

Although we’ve been raising horses for over 32 years, we had
29 Annual Production Sales through 2005. When Vince Crago was diagnosed
with cancer in early 2006 we just couldn’t go on with a sale
that year, we wanted to spend as much time with him as we could. We
lost Vince in August of 2006, and as many of you know, people
need time to heal from such a loss, so we did not have sale in 2007.
Much of the credit for our program goes to “Beckwith Dun” a
son of Classy Flap x Classy Bars x Sugar Bars, and out of Beckwith
Babe x Wrangler Red x King. He produced many winners in many events,
from SDQHA Halter Futurity winners, CONQHA Super Horse winner, AQHA
Reserve World Champion, 3-AQHA World Show 4th place winners,
AQHA ROM winner, winners of Ranch Horse Competitions, Ropings, and
they continue to be excellent ranch horses with a lot of heart and
cow. He stamped his colts with good withers, solid bone, confirmation,
color and cow.
Ralph and Becky’s family has an own son of Beckwith Dun as
their main sire, Beckwith Playboy who is a winner in many events,
and has produced Ranch Horse Competition Champions. Read about his
accomplishments on his Reference Sire page.
Bruce & Kim’s family has a grandson of Beckwith Dun, Butte
County Playboy, whose by Beckwith Playboy, that has proven his ability
with points in AQHA Reining and AQHA Working Cowhorse, as well as
being a Ranch Horse Competition winner. Read more about him on his
Reference Sire page.
Our program is based on our need for good ranch
horses that we can work cattle on, and have the versatility
to go to town and win in many different events.

Our broodmares also play a very important role in our program,
we’ve
narrowed the broodmares down to ones that are either proven winners
themselves, or have produced winners on the ranch and in the arena,
or have sisters or brothers that have went on to win. Most of the
mares have been ridden before entering the broodmare band also.
We found that there is a need for good ranch and arena horses, and
in our sale you will find an offering several good ranch and arena
horses, from prospects to finished horses. We offer a variety of
bloodlines, from Legends of the past to todays Legends. Which
gives our production sale more choices for the buyers.
Many of the riding horses will be ones that we raised, and some will
be ones that we have purchased and used on the ranch. We take pride
in offering horses that will work for you and we work really
hard to help you find ones that will suit your needs. Much of our
success has been from repeat customers, and we thank each and everyone
of them, and to people that are new to our program we thank you for
your interest and hope that you’ll find something here that
fits you’re needs.
Thank You-
The Crago’s |
